Zarathrustra’s Journey follows Swiss Professor Anton Bauer on a profound path to discovering his true self. In her new book, Zarathustra’s Journey, Nanette Hucknall has given us one of the most exceptional bildungsroman I’ve ever read. It has all of the classic drama of the “novel of spiritual development:” the inevitable loss and the journey that follows it, personal growth through conflict, and gradual spiritual maturation. But in an intriguing turn, Hucknall goes further. She follows her protagonist, Anton, into the next stage of development—the call to teach all he has learned. This turns out to be one of the richest parts of the book. Every generation needs new iterations of the archetypal journey on which Hucknall takes us, and this will be one of the best renderings for our generation.

Part fiction, part philosophy, Zarathustra’s Journey is an illuminating story about a man navigating through a dangerous intersection where intellect meets ideology and coming off wholly victorious as he finally comes to learn about his true self. .

Excerpts from Zarathustra’s Journey

He held up a stone in my hand….

… This stone is made of hundreds of particles and each particle is unique to itself, yet together they form a solid piece of matter. This solid piece of matter called stone is part of a larger rock formation and has broken away from it into this smaller piece. You can equate Divine Wisdom to the mountain. It contains many rock formations and plant life. It holds the knowledge of its origins in its formations. It is ancient and has had many stories attached to its passage of time. You are similar to the stone. The knowledge you contain comes from the higher sources and even though you are now a separate piece like this small stone, you can relate back and understand all that is contained in the source, which I call God Consciousness and most of you call God. But know, the particles in this stone are the same as in parts of the mountain and that divine wisdom is part of you. Because you have this divine spark within, you can reach up to the source and bring down wisdom that you have not accessed since you separated from it.

Loving oneself means…

“… you can accept yourself and believe in yourself. It doesn’t mean you have an inflated ego and believe you are better than anyone else.  Loving oneself helps you to face life in a positive manner.  When there are difficulties you can confront them without complaint.  When there is joy you can experience it wholly, whereas egotists feel that life should give them everything because they deserve everything.  They generally look at life pessimistically and under their inflated self-worth are deep feelings of unworthiness.  People who truly love themselves are not conscious of needing a lot of attention.  They feel worthy so therefore don’t in any way try to take from others.  There is a big difference.” Loving and accepting oneself is very important for spiritual growth.  It helps you to become open to others and it gives you the ability to develop unconditional love. If you love yourself you have no need for others to love you. It frees you and allows you to simply love others without needing them to return your love.”

Everything has energy…

…your thoughts, your actions, and your words.  Everything around you is full of energy.  When you walk into a room where someone has been fighting you will feel the energy or the reverse if you walk into a room where there are people who love each other, you can pick up the positive energy.   Each one of us is responsible for the energy we produce.  Everyone here can build a home with beautiful energy just by being conscious of your words, your emotions and bringing into your home beauty such as paintings, flowers and playing music that is melodious and by so doing create an atmosphere that helps you spiritually and mentally.

Put the information in your heart…

The heart takes all knowledge and contains it and in that process reacts in a clear focused way.  For instance, if you put in your heart all that I said about reincarnation, your heart will respond positively and you will know what you heard is correct.  Understanding of the whole death and rebirth process is more complicated and can be learned later, but knowing reincarnation is true is simply a felt experience.  It is the same for any theory or any revelation.  The heart will know instantly if it is true or false, so my first lesson to all of you is to learn how to develop your heart and accept that it understands and has deeper knowledge.
